10 Tips to Improve Dental Office Morning Huddle Meetings

Dentist huddleMany dentists say that the day-to-day activities of their practice can seem unpredictable and a little chaotic. The good news is that this issue could be solved with a simple staff meeting each morning ensuring everyone knows what to expect and is on the same page.

What should be covered in your morning huddle you ask? Below are some items to make sure you include.

  • Review key performance indicators for the day, week, and month
  • Setting office goals and targets
  • Review the progress on active goals and targets

It would also be beneficial for each staff member to report on the status of their area of responsibility and share goals and tasks for each day and week. This allows each staff member to feel ownership and be accountable for their position.

Here are 10 tips to make your morning huddle meetings more productive.

  1. Review any time slots available for emergency appointments for the day.
  2. Discuss important information for new patients who will be visiting.
  3. Identify any open appointment slots and determine patients who could fill the schedule.
  4. Discuss financial information for patients on the schedule and make plans for any payment arrangements.
  5. Review the patients who will need X-Rays.
  6. Plan how many major procedures are needed on the scheduled to stay on target.
  7. Review monthly goals compared to current numbers
  8. Review weekly goals compared to current numbers
  9. Set daily goals for each area.
  10. Ask each staff member to share his or her own goals for the day.
