Interview Questions You Should Never Ask

Hiring the right people for your dental office can be a difficult process. The questions asked during interviews are important in helping you to determine who will be the best choice for your dental practice. Asking the right questions is crucial to this process! However, just as important as asking the right questions are avoiding asking the wrong ones.

Interview Questions To Avoid

Below are a few interview questions to avoid asking when interviewing potential employees:

  • Date of birth
  • Arrest record
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Maiden name
  • Number of children
  • Wage garnishment issues
  • Childcare arrangements
  • Marital status

The reasons for avoiding some of these questions are obvious. However, it’s still easy to slip up and make a mistake. For example, your applicant may innocently offer up some of this information. It’s important that, instead of asking any follow-up questions, you simply acknowledge the information and move on.

Even though there are rules in place regarding which questions can and cannot be asked, it’s still possible for you to conduct a productive and insightful interview with a potential employee.
