Keeping Your Dental Office Open on Nights and Weekends

However, you first need to ask yourself why you’re considering this option. The reasons might be better solved by simply upgrading the way your dental practice is being managed.

What to Consider Before Staying Open During Nights and Weekends

When you’re trying to decide whether or not to extend the hours of your dental office, there are a few things to consider first:

  • Only choose to extend your office hours if you feel like you’re able to handle it. Many business owners, including dentists, tend to look back and realize that their careers took too much time over other things.
  • If you’re one of the few dental offices open on weekends and evenings, you may bring in a wider range of patients, including difficult ones. Sometimes the more accommodating you are, the more people seem to take advantage of you!
  • Consider who will work on evenings and weekends at your office. Odds are that most of the members on your current staff will be reluctant to sacrifice evening or weekend time. You may need to hire additional employees, so keep this in mind.
  • Lastly, many patients underestimate how tired, busy, and overwhelmed they may feel on the weekends or after work. This means you’ll get more last-minute no-shows or cancellations.
